Introduction – A Few Words About Aesthetic Medicine

In today’s world, beauty has been elevated to a supreme value. Everyone seeks it, and everyone wants to preserve it forever. “A person is healthy when they are in harmony with the various stages of life, both physically and mentally.”

With this as a foundation, in 1973, Dr. J. J. Legrand introduced a new branch of medical practice called Aesthetic Medicine. This field focuses on restoring psychosomatic balance and optimizing an individual’s overall appearance through both invasive and non-invasive applications.

The term Aesthetic Medicine is heard more and more often nowadays. It is discussed within medical circles, but more importantly, it has become widely known to the general public. For this reason, the demand for Aesthetic Medicine procedures is increasing daily, both nationwide and worldwide. A fundamental principle of Aesthetic Medicine is that it is a specialty offering treatment not only for pathological issues but also for psychological well-being.

Some may believe that the need to improve one’s external appearance is an act of vanity, but the philosophy of Aesthetic Medicine proves quite the opposite. Aesthetic Medicine is disease prevention, which is why it acts on three systems – the neuropsychiatric, endocrinological, and immune systems – which must always remain in perfect balance.

Put simply: when someone wakes up in the morning and their reflection brings them joy and satisfaction, this immediately influences the neuropsychiatric system, triggering feelings of happiness and well-being. These feelings have been scientifically proven to affect hormone production and secretion, thus positively impacting the endocrinological system. The proper functioning of these systems naturally leads to the strengthening and improvement of the immune system. Everything is connected – it is a chain.

Modern advances in Aesthetic Medicine allow us to avoid surgery and to make the desired choice not only as a matter of preference but also of informed selection.
